It is the policy of the Board of Correction that the Department of Correction ensure the
safe operation of all its correctional facilities. This policy includes but is not limited to
the introduction of contraband, escapes, and the safety of the department’s employees
and inmates.

Correctional facility: Any building or residence housing state-sentenced inmates as
defined or as set forth by law. This shall include all property and lands owned or leased
by the Board of Correction bordering a correctional facility.
Correctional building: Any building or office space leased, owned or operated by the
Department of Correction.
05.00.00. PROCEDURE
Members of the Board of Correction and the director of correction shall have unlimited
access to the department’s facilities and buildings.

Employees of the Department of Correction will be granted access to correctional
facilities or buildings as needed. Need shall be determined by the facility head or
designee or by generally described job duties.
Members of the general public are prohibited from all correctional facilities and buildings
except by permission of the director of correction, warden, division of prisons
administrator, or designee.
Affected divisions shall develop general guidelines for access to facilities and buildings.
