POLICY STATEMENT
It is the policy of the Idaho Board of Correction that the Idaho Department of Correction
(IDOC) establish and maintain procedures for conducting arrests , with or without warrant, of
(1) offenders who are under the direct supervision of the IDOC, Division of Community
Corrections , and (2) persons under drug or mental health court supervision.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to communicate the Board’s philosophy regarding the arrest of
probationers , parolees , and those persons under drug or mental health court supervision.
SCOPE
This policy applies to all procedures created under the authority of this policy and to all
Community Corrections staff members involved in the supervision and management of
probationers and parolees.
RESPONSIBILITY
The director of the IDOC and chief of the Division of Community Corrections are responsible
for overseeing the implementation of this policy and the development and implement ation of
a standard operating procedure (SOP) that provides guidance to Community Corrections
staff members for conducting arrests.
At a minimum, the SOP must identify and/or include the following:
• The authority to arrest,
• Guidelines for conducting pre-arrest briefings, and
• Apprehension/arrest procedures .
