BOARD OF CORRECTION IDAPA RULE NUMBER None POLICY STATEMENT The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) provides programs which promote change and successful reintegration of the resident into the community. IDOC does not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, gender, race, sex, creed, or national origin. Considerations for the approval or denial of programs include s, but is not limited to, the capability of the department to provide programs and the eligibility of the resident. Nothing in this policy statement will establish any right under state or federal law to programming or education for residents. PURPOSE The Division of Prisons will establish effective systems to provide correctional education and rehabilitation programs and will ensure programs and services reflect effective correctional practices based on research findings in reducing recidivism. SCOPE This standard operating procedure (SOP) applies to any Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) staff member, to include contract staff, involved in the education and programming of residents. RESPONSIBILITY Director of IDOC The director is responsible for overseeing the provision of programs. Chief of the Division of Prisons The chief of the Division of Prisons is responsible for general oversight of the programming needs of the department . Control Number: 607 Version 1.0 Title: Correctional Education and Programs Page Number: 2 of 2 Idaho Department of Correction Deputy Chief of Prisons The deputy chief overseeing education and programming is responsible for the development of program practices and written program standards and will guide and support division administrators and facility heads in the implementation and compliance of program standards. Facility Heads and Education Staff Facility heads and education staff will formulate field memoranda as needed to support educational programming efforts. REFERENCES Department Policy 602, Education.
