01.00.00.POLICY OF THE DEPARTMENT
It is the policy of the Board of Correction that the Department of Correction shall
maintain written procedures for the release of offenders from the custody of the
Department in accordance with the laws of the State of Idaho.
01.01.00.Purpose
In order to protect the public from premature releases of offenders currently in the
custody and/or jurisdiction of the Department, official documents shall be required prior
to a temporary or permanent release of an offender.

04.00.00.DEFINITIONS
Department. The state Department of Correction.
Idaho Department Of Correction Release Of Offenders Manual: A manual maintained
by the Management Services Division, Central Records Unit, which covers the
requirements, responsibilities and tasks associated with the temporary and permanent
release of offenders from Department custody.
Offender. A person under the legal care, custody, supervision or authority of the Board
including a person within or without the state pursuant to agreement with another state
or a contractor.
05.00.00.PROCEDURE
Offenders shall be released from Department custody in accordance with state law,
Department policies and directives, and the Idaho Department of Correction Release of
Offenders Manual (See Attachment A, Idaho Department of Correction Release Of
Offenders Manual).
Division directives shall define facility processes preparing for an offender’s release,
including the time of day for the release.
