It is the policy of the Idaho Department of Correction to establish authority, responsibilities, and
procedures for the oversight and administration of department emergency response and
specialty teams.
D. SCOPE
This policy applies to staff members, supervisors, and administrative staff involved in the
implementation, participation, and supervision of emergency response and specialty teams.
E. RESPONSIBILITY
Division chiefs are responsible to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOP)
for emergency response and specialty teams used in their division and/or the Department. At a
minimum, the SOP will contain the following:
1. Team structure and leadership
2. Team membership criteria
3. Selection and retention process
4. Training standards
5. Activation procedures
6. Documentation requirements
7. Methods to ensure availability when the teams’ services are required
8. Standards for uniforms and equipment
9. Audit procedures
