POLICY STATEMENT The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is responsible for protecting the public by preventing and responding to the escape or walkaway of any resident or client from the custody of IDOC. IDOC will maintain written standard operating procedures (SOP) for responding to any escape or walkaway. The SOP will include proper victim notification. D. PURPOSE To establish guidelines for responding to escapes and walkaways from IDOC facilities, job sites, furloughs, or other forms of custody. E. SCOPE This policy applies to all IDOC facilities and employees. F. RESPONSIBILITY The IDOC Chief of Prisons and the IDOC Chief of Probation and Parole, or their designees, will work with the IDOC Policy Manager to ensure that a current SOP exists for handling escapes and walkaways. G. POLICY IDOC will establish an SOP that outlines a process for responding quickly and appropriately to an escape or walkaway from an IDOC facility, job sites, furlough, or other form of custody. H.
