HomeMy WebLinkAbout404.02.01.001.01 (ISCC OM) Food Removed From Food Service Area This document was approved by Randy Blades, Warden of ISCC on Purpose The purpose of this field memorandum is to provide specific guidelines that are unique to this facility in order to fully implement standard operating procedure404.02.01.001.01. This field memorandum establishes guidelines for propercontrol of food items removed from the food service area, identifies offenderseligible to receive food delivered from the dining facility, and identifies offenders and food items authorized for removal from the dining facility. The food service supervisor/manager has direct supervision with the deputy warden of operations having oversight responsibility. General Statement This field memorandum is subject to revision at the discretion of the warden of this facility, chief of the Operations Division (or designee), or director of the Idaho Department of Correction. Any one of these persons may revise, suspend, or rescind any procedural steps, at any time, at hissole discretion. TABLE OF CONTENTSProcedural Guidelines11. Snacks2References2 PROCEDURAL GUIDELINES Food will never be withheld as a form of punishment. Food Items Authorized to be Removed fromthe Dining FacilityOne piece of uncut fruit with a peeling, i.e., an orange, apple or banana, if served with a meal, may be taken to the offender’s housing unit.This item must be consumed before the next meal. Examples of Items Not to beTakenfrom the Dining Facility Condiment packages Margarine Juice, milk Bread, sandwiches, any and all meats and cheeses Cups, bowls or eating utensils Special Holidays/Events The warden or designee may authorize food items to be taken from the dining facility in conjunction with special holidays or events. Snacks Medical authorization for the snack must be on file in food service. Offenders with documented dietary needs for food snacks may remove them from the dining facility. The snack must follow the guidelines set forth in the SOP 404.02.01.003 Selective and Medical Diets. Snacks are provided for the following times: 1000, 1400, and 2000 hours. The snacks should be picked up in the dining facility from the food service staff at the meal before. There are instances when the snacks will be delivered to the units. Offendersmay only pick up their own snack. The snack must be eaten or disposed of prior to the next served meal. Food service staff will check the snacks for accuracy.
