Purpose The purpose of this field memorandum is to provide specific guidelines that are unique to this facility in order to fully implement standard operating procedure216.02.01.002. General Statement This field memorandum is subject to revision at the discretion of the Warden of this facility, Chief of the Operations Division (or designee), or Director of the Idaho Department of Correction. Any one of these persons may revise, suspend, or rescind any procedural steps, at any time, at hissole discretion. TABLE OF CONTENTSExempt Posts1References2Exempt Posts The warden or designee is responsible to identify posts that require specialized skills, knowledge or training to fulfill the duties of the position. These posts are exempt from the seniority bid. The warden or designee will write a description of each exempt post to include job title, duties, shift assignment, days off, and the desired skills and knowledge needed for the position. These descriptions will be posted. Both posting and email should be used to notify staff. Exempt posts will be filled at least fourteen (14) days before the seniority bidding process. Exempt post request will only be accepted from permanent status employees. All requests will be submitted in writing utilizing Appendix A, of SOP 216.02.01.002. All requests will be sent to the operations sergeant’s office. Post assignments will be made considering the following criteria:Possess skills and qualifications required for the positionBest represent the needs of the department and/or institutionMust meet established minimum qualifications for the position The facility head or designee must approve any officer selected to fill a vacant exempt post. .All posts left vacant by the filling of exempt bids or by the quarterly bid will be left vacant until the next quarterly bid.
